2022 Mustang World Series Championship

Championship Game: Orange, CA 15, Tijuana, MX 0

After dominating the winner's bracket, Orange, CA was looking to secure a Championship win over Tijuana, MX.

They did so in a commanding fashion, winning 15-0 in just a three-inning no-hitter, setting a new record for the Mustang World Series.

Orange, CA started their scoring on a double by Joe Velazquez to bring in two runs and take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

In the bottom of the second, Orange was on fire, scoring 12 runs to take a 14-0 lead. Singles by Christian Cicero and Seth Windsor brought in two runs. They scored another run on an error and three on wild pitches.

Three more runs were scored on doubles by Seth Windsor and Gavin Klovstad. A walk and a ground out provided and a ground out scored two runs, with the twelve of the inning coming from a triple by Gavin Klovstad.

Their 15th and final run of the game was a double by Christian Cicero after Talyx-Rush Sylva hit a double of his own.

Jacob Barragan was an important player on both sides of the ball. He was the sole pitcher of the no-hitter and had two hits, one of them driving a run on a single in the bottom of the second.

Chairman Ken May was impressed with Orange’s record-setting performance: “Orange dominated the MLWS from Day 1. Flawless defensively and when you get great pitching as in the championship game you are pretty much unbeatable. #12 Jacob Barragan was hitting his spots and you could tell the Mexico hitters were off balance. Just a great game by Orange, CA”.

Coach Greg Cicero was understandably proud of his team and their accomplishments in the Mustang World Series.

“Winning in this fashion gives credence to the hard work these boys put in! It isn't easy to do what they do and yet they show up daily expecting to get better. Their drive and focus or what we call attitude and effort, was on full display today as all facets (pitching, hitting, defense and baserunning) were at the best version [they] could be in this game,” Cicero said. “A perfect game by our pitcher, tons of hits and great defense... what can I say but that I am so proud to be a part of this Olive Baseball team!”
