2023 Colt World Series Championship Game
Southern Illinois - 2, Youngstown, Ohio - 0
Both teams were strong on the mound on Wednesday, but Southern Illinois was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 2-0 victory over Youngstown, Ohio. Dawson Wallace started the game for Youngstown, Ohio and recorded 21 outs.
Southern Illinois got on the board in the first inning after Aaron Sheffer doubled, scoring one run.
Wallace led things off on the bump for Youngstown, Ohio. They allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out five and walking two. Brady Phillips led things off on the hill for Southern Illinois. They surrendered three hits and zero runs over five and one-third innings, striking out three and walking three.
Logan Cypher went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Youngstown, Ohio in hits. Youngstown, Ohio turned one double play in the game.
Reece Anthony, Sheffer, Logan Ingle, and Drew Barrington each collected one hit for Southern Illinois. Sheffer and Ingle each drove in one run for Southern Illinois. Southern Illinois turned two double plays in the game. Southern Illinois were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Talan Nemeth had the most chances in the field with seven.
Congratulations to both, Southern Illinois and Youngstown for making it to this year's Colt League World Series.
