Day 1 Game Recaps of the 2024 Mustang-9 World Series

Game One: Tijuana, Mexico 6 vs. Managua, Nicaragua 7


Managua, Nicaragua took Friday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 7-6 walk-off victory over Tijuana, Mexico. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the sixth when Mateo P singled, scoring one run.


Managua, Nicaragua came back to win despite trailing 6-0 in the fourth. Tijuana, Mexico got on the board in the top of the first inning after Tadeo P singled, and Simon S stole home, each scoring one run. A single by Miguel N extended the Tijuana, Mexico lead to 3-0 in the top of the second inning.


Managua, Nicaragua scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Roberto R drew a walk, scoring one run, Samuel M drew a walk, scoring one run, and Winston C doubled, scoring three runs.Ulises T singled, which helped Managua, Nicaragua 9U tie the game at six in the bottom of the fifth.


Braulio S earned the win for Managua, Nicaragua. They gave up zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out one and walking none. Luis R took the loss for Tijuana, Mexico. They went one and two-thirds innings, giving up one run on two hits, striking out two and walking two. Ulises led things off on the bump for Managua, Nicaragua. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and three runs over one inning, striking out one and walking three. Assael K opened the game for Tijuana, Mexico. The starting pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over two and one-third innings, striking out three and walking two. Mateo threw two innings of zero-run ball for Managua, Nicaragua 9U in relief. They allowed one hit, striking out three and walking one.


Managua, Nicaragua 9U accumulated 10 hits in the game. Winston drove the middle of the lineup, leading Managua, Nicaragua 9U with three runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Winston, Ulises, Braulio Ricardo, and Mateo each collected two hits for Managua, Nicaragua 9U. Roberto William paced Managua, Nicaragua 9U with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Managua, Nicaragua 9U turned two double plays in the game.


Miguel went 3-for-4 at the plate as the outfielder led the team with three runs batted in. Tadeo collected two hits for Tijuana, Mexico in three at bats. Christopher S paced Tijuana, Mexico with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Simon and Matteo C each stole multiple bases for Tijuana, Mexico. Game Two: Tanauan, Philippines 3 vs. West Raleigh, NC 6


West Raleigh, NC bested Tanauan, Philippines 6-3 on Friday.

Tanauan, Philippines opened the scoring in the first after a passed ball scored one run. West Raleigh, NC captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the third when Mason S doubled, scoring one run, and Jonah R singled, scoring two runs.


Tanauan, Philippines tied the game up in the top of the fourth thanks to two ground outs. Tanauan, Philippines tied the game at three on a ground out by Mig Russel M. A ground out by Penn T gave West Raleigh, NC the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the fourth.


Carter K started the game for West Raleigh, NC. They gave up two hits and three runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out seven and walking four. Geb Gadiel C started on the mound for Tanauan, Philippines. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking none. Mason tossed one and two-thirds innings of shutout ball for West Raleigh, NC in relief. They gave up zero hits, striking out three and walking two.


Mason set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading West Raleigh, NC with two hits in three at bats. Jonah led West Raleigh, NC with two runs batted in. The third baseman went 1-for-3 on the day.


Geb Gadiel and Jared Elijah M each collected one hit for Tanauan, Philippines. Mig Russel and Jhared Brex A were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Tanauan, Philippines. Nythe Mathew M and Jhared Brex each stole multiple bases for Tanauan, Philippines 9U. Tanauan, Philippines had a strong eye at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Tanauan, Philippines stole seven bases in the game. Tanauan, Philippines turned one double play in the game.

West Raleigh moves to 1-0 and will play today, Saturday July 20, in Game Eight at 7:30 pm. Tanuan, Philippines will play today, Saturday July 20, in Game Six at 5:00 pm.


Game Three: Vacaville, CA 1 vs. Cypress, CA 11


Cypress, CA easily dispatched Vacaville, CA 9U on Friday, 11-1.

Cypress, CA jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Jair J lined out, scoring one run, and Brayden C doubled, scoring two runs. Cypress, CA scored five runs on zero hits in the bottom of the second inning. Ryan R drew a walk, scoring one run, Jaxson F drew a walk, scoring one run, and an error scored three runs.


Cypress, CA added two runs in the third. Vacaville, CA 9U committed an error, making the score 10-1. Jayden G stepped on the mound first for Cypress, CA. They allowed two hits and zero runs over two and one-third innings, striking out none and walking one. Scott O started on the bump for Vacaville, CA 9U. They allowed zero hits and three runs (zero earned) over one-third of an inning, striking out none and walking two. Tanner M appeared in relief for Cypress, CA.


Brayden went 1-for-3 at the plate as the infielder led the team with two runs batted in. Adam A, Konner Y, and Brayden each collected one hit for Cypress, CA. Jaxson paced Cypress, CA with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing nine walks for the game. Brayden stole three bases. Cypress, CA ran wild on the base paths, collecting eight stolen bases for the game. Kai H, John C, and Cayson B each collected one hit for Vacaville, CA 9U.


Cypress, CA moves to 1-0 and will play today, Saturday July 20, in Game Seven, at 7:30 pm. Vacaville will play today, Saturday, July 20, in Game Five at 5:00 pm. 

Game Four: Palmview TX 1 vs. San Diego, CA 12


Mackenzie D collected three hits in four at bats, as San Diego, CA defeated Palmview, TX 12-1 on Friday at Field B. Mackenzie singled in the fourth inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the third inning.


San Diego, CA got on the board in the first inning after an error scored one run. San Diego, CA added one run in the second. Palmview, TX committed an error, making the score 2-0. San Diego, CA added two runs in the third. Palmview, TX committed an error, making the score 4-0.



San Diego, CA won thanks in part to eight runs in the fourth inning.  Eli A singled, scoring one run, Granite T singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, David L singled, scoring one run, Wyatt T doubled, scoring one run, Mateo R drew a walk, scoring one run, Mackenzie singled, scoring one run, and Eli doubled, scoring one run.



Eli opened the game for San Diego, CA. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one. Iliam R led things off on the mound for Palmview, TX. They allowed three hits and two runs (one earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking none. Trevor M threw one inning of no-run ball for San Diego, CA in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out two and walking none.


San Diego, CA collected 11 hits in the game. Gage B provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led San Diego, CA with three runs batted in.  Eli, Wyatt, and Granite each collected multiple hits for San Diego, CA. Mateo, Wyatt, and Trevor each stole multiple bases for San Diego, CA. San Diego, CA stole 12 bases in the game. Boy Z led Palmview, TX with one run batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Evan R, Iliam, and Boy each collected one hit for Palmview, TX.
